Bahamas 2011

The past couple of weeks have been very eventful! My parents were so generous, and took our family on a cruise to the Bahamas!!!

A few days before we took off on our cruise, our little family journeyed up to snowy Logan, to spend a few days with my family. We had such a great time, and it was so good to see everyone. While in Logan, we decided to go shoot some guns at the gun range. Our exchange student, Eileen had never even held a gun, so we all had a good time watching her shoot for the first time.

After spending a few days in Logan, it was time for some nice weather! Because Andrew was not 6 months old, he wasn't allowed to even come on the cruise with us, so we had to leave him with Stevens parents. Leaving Andrew was seriously one of the HARDEST things I have ever done. I bawled, and bawled, and bawled! But it really was so nice to get away, and have some time with just Steven.

Our cruise was 5 days long. In a way, I couldn't wait for it to end, just so I could get home to my baby, and I also didn't want it to end, because who doesn't love laying on the beach all day, without a care in the world?

We were able to stop at 3 awesome places! The first island we stopped at was called Grand Turk. This place was absolutely beautiful, and had some of the most amazing pina coladas! While sitting on the beach, Steven managed to crack open a coconut. I was so excited to try some of the juice, but it was so gross! Grand Turk also had an amazing swimming pool, with a really fun poolside bar. We had a blast!

Our second stop was to a private island owned by Carnival Cruise lines called Half Moon Cay. This place was probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. The water was SO blue, and clear! We did some snorkeling, had burgers for lunch, played volleyball and had some really yummy Miami Vices (virgin, of course!).

Our final stop was to a place called Nassau. Nassau is the capitol of the Bahamas, and is also known for the famous water park called Atlantis. We were told that because it was spring break, there would be no way that we could get into the park, because it was going to be so full. We thought it was definitely worth a try, so we immediately took a taxi and went straight to Atlantis, and luckily, got in! It was AWESOME! It has some of the scariest water slides, ever! One of my favorite slides actually takes you through an aquarium of sharks while going down the slide. Atlantis also has such a fun lazy river. It lasted about 20 minutes, and instead of just being "lazy" the whole time, the river had huge waves and got a bit treturous in a few places. You know its fun when my dad can sit through it. :) While at Atlantis we also saw a celebrity, "Pauly D", and my sister and I got a picture with him! We had so much fun, and were so happy we were able to get in to the water park. I highly recommend it!!!

Once our cruise had come to an end, it was time to pick up our little guy! Words can't describe how excited I was to see him. I had really missed being a mommy, and being with him all day, every day. Although we had such an awesome time, I don't think ill be leaving Andrew again any time soon. Who wouldn't want to come home to this little guy?!

  1. How fun that you went on a cruise! I was looking at your FB pics and realized you were on the exact same ship that we went on last year. Your little guy is getting so big, too! If we're ever down that way we'll have to stop by :)
